"An unsung hero in
modern jazz"
Michael Nastos - All Music Guide
I'm glad to be making music and recording
jazz in 2008. I'm especially excited to be teaching college students about the beauty of jazz.
Here's a brief bio:
Glenn has a Bachelors degree in Music Education from Younstown State University and a Masters in Jazz Performance from the University of Illinois.
In
his years in New York (1977-1991), Glenn toured and recorded with
Buddy Rich, Lionel Hampton, Machito, Tito Puente, The Bill Kirchner
Nonet, Mel Lewis, Toshiko Akiyoshi, and The Bob Belden Ensemble. He
has recorded 6 solo albums and has appeared on 21 others as a sideman.
Glenn has been awarded a grant by the National Endowment for the Arts
and his CDs are featured in the Grammaphone
Guide to Good Jazz and The
Penguin Guide to Jazz.
In 1991, Glenn moved to Richmond, VA. One
Man's Blues was recorded live at Bogart's in Richmond, the band's
steady gig for 9 years. Glenn
has also recorded and toured with rock pianist Bruce Hornsby.
Glenn is now a resident of Central Illinois and teaches jazz The University of Illinois - Urbana.
